Vanity Search & Other Searches.....
When I enter my name in Google, a lot of information is revealed about me, I was surprised to find out that my old and new address shows up on http://www.123people.com, phone number and everything, now that's scary, other information shows up. Every time I search my name under images, La Toya Jackson (celebrity) appears, it happens all the time. It's amazing how much information is out there about you online.

Guest Speaker, Mark Briggs 10/19/09
Last week Mark Briggs came to the class to tell us about his career in journalism. He used to work as an editor for Tacoma News Tribune for about 15 years; but left the company to start his own business, he is the chief executive of Serra Media. He wrote 2 books, Journalism 2.0: How to survive and thrive , which was released in 2007 and Journalism Next : A Practical Guide to Digital Reporting and Publishing , which will be published later this year.
I like the different sections on the website ( Serra Media), it consists of
* News garden ( local news)
* TownLuxe ( local shopping bargains and discounts :bargain babe.com)- LA
* Where to go ( maps, etc)

Assignment #3: My First Page
This was my first time creating a html page from scratch. Now I know when you create a web page from scratch it takes a lot of time, but is somewhat easy to once you get the hang of it and follow the steps.
One thing I noticed about the notepad that it doesn't have a spell checker compared to Microsoft Word. It was different making the page, but I was anxious to see how it came out.

Assisgnment # 2: Newspapers vs Internet Newspapers

I think that online newspapers are better than the physical newspapers. When we received newspapers at home, it would be the Seattle times and all I looked at was the classifieds, sometimes the comics, and mostly it's for ads and headline news on the front page. Viewing the news online is fast, easy and efficient ; all you have to do is go to the website and look for the local/ international news, it's exactly the same from the physical newspaper, you just have to get rid of the newspapers when you're finished reading it, or just toss it in the recycle bin.
I believe that newspapers on the Internet will continue to change, maybe we won't get papers anymore, instead we will get the news on the Internet.

Assignment # 1: E-Mail vs Postal Mail
What is similar and different about e-mail vs postal mail?
I prefer both e-mail and postal mail. The difference with receiving e-mails is that it's fast, and easy ; it's also a good way to communicate with someone near/ far away from you.
Postal mail after a while you end up with so much paper, you don't know what to do with it. Either keep for a while then toss, If someone sends you an e-card, letter or e-bills (statements) to your e-mail address, you can do different things than with postal mail, you can view the e-mail print and delete.
On the other hand, receiving an actual card in the mail, a letter and bills, it's basically the same thing, except you have to pay for stamps, go to the Post Office to mail a package, and it's different from e-mail, it's free and easy to do, all it takes is a click of the button and you're done.
